چکیده

Several reports in the literature suggest a possible relationship between riboflavin deficiency and anemia. Intramuscular administration of purified flavin prepared from liver was reported by Stare and Thompson (1) to have no effect on hemoglobin, erythrocyte, or reticulocyte response in patients with pernicious anemia. However, Miller and Rhoads (2) were able to produce in dogs a syndrome similar to sprue by diets deficient in riboflavin. These investigators (3) later reported the finding of an antipernicious anemia principle in egg white and in a rice polishings concentrate low in riboflavin, which confirmed the view of other workers that riboflavin is not the extrinsic factor of the deficiency state in pernicious anemia. Iiohls (4) found evidence in blood studies for the association of anemia with a deficiency of the vitamin G complex (presumably a riboflavin plus). A slight anemia was listed by Potter et al. (5) as one of the symptoms of this deficiency in dogs. Gyijrgy and coworkers (6) found that riboflavin causes a definite increase in hemoglobin production above the basal level when fed to standardized anemic dogs on a salmon-bread diet. Studies in this laboratory (7) on hemoglobin regeneration in dogs with a, synthetic ration free of the B complex vitamins, supplemented only with the crystalline B vitamins, have given ample proof of the adequacy of this ration for good hemoglobin production during long periods of phlebotomy. Such a ration, then, makes possible the investigation of the rSle of the B complex vitamins in blood regeneration, because it allows the use of a ration relatively free of any one member.

Onm-19: The Role of Cord Blood Preservationin Cell Therapy

s:3604:"During pregnancy, the placenta delivers "cord blood" to the baby through the umbilical cord serving as a lifeline of nourishment from the mother to baby. At birth, "cord blood" remains in the umbilical cord and placenta and until recently, had typically been discarded. The tragedy of this practice is that "cord blood" contains very special cells called "stem cells". Recent advances in m...

The role of the desert hedgehog signaling pathway during degeneration and regeneration of peripheral nerves

The desert hedgehog (Dhh) signaling pathway is involved in the development of peripheral nerves (PNs). Dhh-null mice show abnormal neuronal development and perineurial barrier function. As it was previously shown that dhh is mainly expressed in developmental nerves and Sonic hedgehog protein (dhh homologous) has therapeutic effects in neuronal survival, we attempted to investigate the possible ...

Improved shoot regeneration protocol for canola explants and pre-assessment of salinity tolerance in canola transgenic plants

Regeneration of explants plays a significant role in plant transformation. Explant type, hormonal concentration, and pre-culturing period are important in transformation efficiency. To get an efficient transformation of canola and optimize regeneration conditions, different explants along with different culture media were studied. Four canola varieties were used to evaluate regeneration ability...

O27: The Role of Hydrogels and Cell Based Therapies in Regeneration of Spinal Cord Injury

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is one of the devastating conditions leading to functional and neurological deficits following road traffic accidents. To date, there is no definite treatment for repairing damaged spinal cord tissue. In this regard, cell therapy opens a new window in front of scientists by using different cells such as mesenchymal stem cells, olfactory ensheathing cells, Schwann cells,...
